Some women love jewelry or fine perfume. Some love bubble baths and furs. Me? I LOVE fabric softener! Shopping for fabric softener is probably the highlight of any grocery shopping day. It is one of those splurges that make housekeeping bearable. I NEVER buy generic. This is no time to be cheap. It makes laundry tolerable. It makes my house smell homey and worked in. I LOVE fabric softener. I don't love it for the fact that it supposedly "softens" laundry. I love it for its purely aesthetic value.
My best friend and I have had late night conversations about fabric softener choices. Her and I are both partial to the Original Pink Capped Downy for daily use. Have you cracked the cap on a bottle of Downy lately? Oh my, makes me want to dab a little behind my ears! But special ocassions, like washing the blankets and comforter on my bed, call for a little something extra. And thanks to the plethora of smelly good modern conveniences on your Wal-Mart shelves, you can indulge in lavender or rose scented sheets courtesy of the laundry aisle.
If you haven't tried these, here is a real treat...a free sample.
One small warning! A manly husband might not appreciate arriving to work on Monday morning with rose scented BDUs (Battle Dress Uniform for you non-military types!). Something about fatigues, combat boots and lavender that just doesn't mix! Trust me, I learned this from experience.
So the next time you are facing laundry room drudgery, take a swing down your supermarket laundry aisle. There is something for every mood . I promise it is a homemakers pick-me-up better than Prozac. I wonder if sniffing fabric softener is addictive!
